For years I would have told you I loved God with everything I had. But my Monday nights were spent rechecking forecasts, and my Tuesday mornings rose or fell with the numbers. I loved God. I loved stability more.
It took losing the business to see the difference. And I don’t think I was unusual. Most leaders I talk to are running on a currency they never chose.
“Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.” The second is this: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” There is no commandment greater than these.

Jesus didn’t give two equal instructions. He gave an order. Love for God roots and shapes love for neighbor. Skip the first and the second becomes a program.

The Shift That Changes Everything
Every day we make decisions inside two different systems.
The world’s economy trains us to think transactionally. It teaches us to measure value by performance, seek security through control, pursue success through accumulation, and live from scarcity.
But Scripture reveals a different way to live.
“And now these three remain: faith, hope, and love. But the greatest of these is love.”
1 Corinthians 13:13 (NIV)
In the Kingdom of God, love becomes the currency.
Identity replaces performance.
Trust replaces control.
Stewardship replaces accumulation.
Generosity replaces scarcity.
The guiding question is no longer, “What do I get from this?”
It becomes, “What does love require of me here?”
What Changes When Love Becomes the Currency
When love becomes the currency, leadership changes.
I can’t promise you a timeline, and Scripture doesn’t either. But over time, this is what I’ve watched grow in people who live this way:
